- Name: Benilde Little
- What words best describe you? Sensitive, creative, thinker, mother, wife, dog owner, yogi (although I don’t practice as much as I’d like)
- What is it that inspires you? Coffee, the ocean, my friendships
- What are you most grateful for? The mother I had
- What important values do you live by? Love hard, be your authentic self, be kind, keep your word
- Life is…hard and wonderous
- Love is…oxygen
- Work is…fuel but only if it’s work you love
- Biggest achievement so far…I’d say two: having my first book, Good Hair, be a bestseller and the top selling novel for Simon and Schuster when it was published in 1996. The second is of raising two children who are just great—kind & smart.
- Most impactful or favorite book…Impossible to pick one. It would be written by James Baldwin—perhaps his Collected Essays
- Least favorite word…classy
- Where do you see yourself in five years? Living between two places– one on a beach and the other in a manageable city. I will be a relaxed, empty nester, doing yoga everyday and running my newly created Writers House, where I’ll teach writing workshops.
